Hi, I’m Govinda Datta, the 71-year-old founder of Krishna SoCal Food Truck in Los Angeles. Every morning, I rise at 5:30 AM to prep meals for our community. We serve affordable, nutritious vegetarian meals to students, nurses, and neighbors near UCLA who consider us their “home away from home.” We’re not just a food truck—we’re a lifeline, providing comfort during tough times. We're raising $5,000/month to expand our service and ensure no one goes hungry.
Here’s How You Can Help:
We currently have just three volunteers, and recent unexpected expenses (like a $1,500 truck repair) are putting us behind. Our goal is to sell 100+ meals a day, including dinner, to serve tired workers, students, and families.
Your support will make this possible. Here’s what we’re raising funds for:
- Truck Maintenance & Insurance: $1,000–$2,000 to keep our truck running.
- Parking Fees: $350 for our UCLA-adjacent spot.
- Kitchen Rental: $3,500 for a safe, commercial prep space.
- Ingredients & Supplies: $3,500 to continue serving fresh, vegetarian meals.
- Staffing & Wages: $5,000 to hire and support volunteers.
- Dinner Expansion: $7,000 to provide evening meals to more people.
Community Impact:
Every day, I wake up at 5:30 AM to prep meals—pushing through physical therapy because I believe food can heal hearts. Earlier this year, we were honored to provide meals to fire responders, as featured on FOX Local News 2025. This is just one example of how our food isn’t just for students and workers, but for anyone in need.
With your donation, we’ll hire staff, ease my workload, and expand our service to 100+ meals daily, including dinner. Your generosity will keep our mission alive, helping us nourish more hearts and lift up the community.
Thank you for joining our family and supporting this mission!
