Hello, dear friends and kind souls—my name is Sherry Jackson, and for 36 beautiful years, I shared my life with my soulmate, Larry Jackson. We were married on July 2, 2000, and even shared the same birthday, October 19—his in 1954, mine in 1955. Larry, born in Oklahoma City and a proud resident of Pomona, California since May 30, 1988, was a hard-working man with a heart of gold, always ready to help anyone in need.
Together, we raised our three wonderful sons—Willie, whom Larry called "Boo Boo"; Maleek, nicknamed "Leekie"; and Daenell, affectionately known as "Papa"—filling our home with laughter from those special nicknames that kept us all smiling. He was our rock, our joy, and the loving father we could always count on.
Now, after his passing on our anniversary, July 2, 2024, our hearts ache without him. I’m reaching out through LetsFund to bring Larry’s ashes home from Snyder Care Center, where the kind Mr. Snyder has patiently held them for over a year, and to support our family’s basic living needs. Your generosity will help us honor Larry’s memory and keep our family afloat during this painful time.
Our love story began 36 years ago, and Larry’s steady, caring spirit carried us through every moment—24 years as husband and wife, raising our boys, and celebrating life’s highs and lows. He worked tirelessly to provide for us, never letting on how sick he was, protecting us until the very end.
That last hospital visit broke our hearts: doctors found blood clots in both his legs, so severe that survival would have meant losing both legs and living as a vegetable. Letting him go on July 2, 2024—our anniversary—was the hardest choice I’ve ever made. I held his hand, whispering our love, but the silence since has been deafening.
Our sons and I miss his voice, his laughter, and those nicknames that lit up our home. As our daughter-in-law Tracy wrote, “Dear Larry, not a day goes by we don’t think of you. We love you dearly and cherish all the moments we shared. You were the one we could always count on.”
When I close my eyes, I see him; when I open them, I miss him. I never knew what “I miss you” truly meant until his voice was gone. I’ll stop missing him when I’m with him again. For over a year, Mr. Snyder at Snyder Care Center has kindly stored Larry’s ashes, giving us time to gather ourselves, but now we need to bring him home to rest with dignity.
This LetsFund campaign is our plea to honor Larry and support our family. The costs have piled up, and without Larry’s income, every day is a struggle. Here’s how your kindness will help, based on verified expenses:
- Snyder Care Center Funeral Fees: $1,173.93 – To cover the services at Snyder Care Center, where Larry’s ashes have been respectfully held.
- Transportation of Larry’s Ashes: $150 – To safely bring his ashes home to Pomona for a final farewell with our family.
- Family Living Expenses: $1,176.07 – For rent, groceries, and utilities to keep our home stable for me and our three sons as we grieve.
These expenses hit us hard and fast, and we’re doing all we can to stay strong. Your support will let us focus on cherishing Larry’s memory instead of worrying about bills.
My dear Larry, we miss you so much. We’re trying to bring you home, to give you the farewell you deserve as our hard-working husband and loving father. With your help, we can make this happen, surrounding our family with the love Larry always gave us. Picture our sons lighting a candle for their dad, finding peace knowing he’s home.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you so very much for reading our story, for sharing our pain, and for any gift you can give—a donation, a share with friends, or a quiet prayer. Larry would have helped you too. Please join us in bringing our loved one home. We’re forever grateful.
Humbly with love,
Sherry Jackson (and our family)
