Support BIA at Berkeley’s Spring Festival Gala at International House, UC Berkeley

My name is Jacky, and I’m the Co-President of BIA at Berkeley—a registered student organization serving Chinese international students, Chinese-heritage students, and anyone interested in Chinese culture at UC Berkeley. Our mission is to build a sense of home for students thousands of miles away and offer practical support—academic and course advice, insurance guidance, campus resources, and community connections.

This February (mid-February 2026, exact date TBA), we’re hosting a Spring Festival Gala at International House (I-House)—UC Berkeley’s historic home for international students for nearly a century. The Gala will bring together hundreds of students across the Bay Area to celebrate the most important holiday in the broader East Asian community with music, dance, cultural showcases, and food.

Because venue deposits and performer bookings are time-sensitive, we must finalize orders by November 30, 2025. That means we need to raise our full $5,000 goal by the end of November.

Why This Matters

For our campus and community, the Gala means:

• A flagship celebration of Chinese culture on campus—open to all at Cal.
• A welcoming reunion space for Chinese and Pan-East Asian students during the new year.
• Visibility and pride for the Chinese student community at Berkeley.

(Our community track record includes service projects like helping replace the public piano in the MLK Jr. Building—small examples of how we try to give back and enrich campus life.)

Why We Need Your Help

We are raising $5,000 by November 30 to cover:

• Venue reservation & production (I-House): $4,000
• Logistics & support (A/V, decorations, signage, volunteer ops, safety): $1,000

Every Contribution Makes a Direct Difference

• $25 – decor & red-envelope supplies for one table
• $50 – one hour of A/V support or printing of programs & signage
• $100 – partial stipend for a student performance group
• $250 – rentals (tables, chairs, stage risers)
• $500 – lighting/sound package upgrades for the main stage
• $1,000 – venue deposit or headline act support

BIA at Berkeley exists to help students belong, thrive, and be seen—from day-to-day advising and resource navigation to large cultural events that anchor our community. We steward funds carefully, publish a transparent post-event report, and channel any surplus into future cultural programming and student support.
