Hi, my name is Elizabeth Zucco, and I’m fighting stage 4 breast cancer that has spread to my bones.
I can no longer work or live independently. I can’t get out of bed without help.
My son, who is still very young himself, offered to take me in here in Texas. He’s doing his best to help, but I require round-the-clock care — help with medication, mobility, and hygiene. We are overwhelmed. I live on a small Social Security check and have no savings.
Why this is urgent
My condition is worsening. I spend most of the day in bed, unable to move without assistance, and require constant care to prevent infection and complications.
Every day without help increases my risk of hospitalization or worse. We are barely managing. Without urgent support, I may be forced into a facility far from my son. I need care now, not weeks from now.
I’m asking for help to afford basic care and dignity, and, if possible, to reunite with Baby Dog, the dog I raised since he was 8 weeks old.
I’ve always been a caregiver to my family and to animals. Baby Dog is a 4-year-old beagle/coonhound mix. He’s my companion and my heart. When I left, he didn’t understand. He’s been so sad without me, and I miss him every single day.
Before I got sick, I also cared for two beloved horses Merlin and Lucie. I trained them myself and rode through the Ocala forest, harvesting medicinal mushrooms and finding peace. Letting them go was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.
I’ve lost my animals, my independence, and the life I built. But I haven’t lost my will to fight or my love for those I’ve cared for.
Your support helps me:
- Afford daily home care and living expenses
- Stay in treatment
- Reunite with Baby Dog, and keep him from being adopted out by people who do not truly care
Every share or dollar truly helps.
Thank you for reading my story.
Elizabeth
