My name is Jonah Qian, and I am the president of the Chinese Student Basketball

Association (CSBA)—the largest Chinese student sports club at UC Berkeley. Our mission

is to promote basketball culture, foster teamwork, and build a supportive community for

Chinese students at Cal through organized basketball activities and events.

This November, we are honored to be invited to compete in the Northeastern Chinese

Basketball League (NECBL) in Los Angeles—the premier nationwide basketball

tournament for Chinese college students. This incredible event brings together the strongest

teams and clubs from across the U.S., and we are proud to represent UC Berkeley on this

stage.

Because of design, processing, and delivery lead times, we must place the order for new

uniforms no later than October 25, 2025. This means we need to raise the full $1,000

goal before that deadline in order to compete properly.

Why This Matters

For our players and community, this opportunity means:

● Competing against top collegiate teams at the highest level

● Networking with Chinese student clubs nationwide

● Showcasing the strength of the Chinese student community at Cal

● Building lasting cooperation opportunities with supporting firms and organizations

Why We Need Your Help

The invitation came on short notice, and the costs are significant. We are raising $1,000 no

later than October 25 to cover:

● New uniforms for the 2025–2026 season (must be ordered by October 25)

● Tournament entry fees

● Partial travel costs for the team

● Future programming to continue supporting basketball culture among Chinese

students at Cal

Every contribution makes a direct difference:

● $25 = helps purchase a jersey for one player

● $50 = covers one player’s tournament entry fee

● $100 = supports travel expenses so we can bring the whole team
