My name is Glenda Dennis, and I am a single mother of three children. Two of my children, ages 17 and 13, still live at home with me. Both of them are facing serious health challenges, and I am doing everything I can to provide for them despite financial hardship.
My Daughter’s Struggle
My 17-year-old daughter has been dealing with scoliosis for several years. On top of that, she now suffers from lockjaw—a painful condition where the tissue in her jaw has slipped out of place, causing the bones to sit directly on each other. This leads to severe pain and her jaw locking whenever she tries to chew, talk, or even move it.
Doctors have told us that she needs a procedure costing $2,500, which may help relieve her pain and restore function. Without insurance, I cannot afford this cost on my own. She has also battled ongoing digestive problems since she was a child and had her gallbladder removed in May 2022. Watching her go through so much at such a young age is heartbreaking.
My Son’s Struggle
My 13-year-old son also has scoliosis, as well as dyslexia and tone deafness in his hearing. These challenges have become clearer over the past couple of years, and while I try to stay strong, I know he needs continued medical care and educational support that I cannot fully provide right now.
Our Family Situation
I have always worked hard to support my kids. I hold a bachelor’s degree in healthcare, and I was recently laid off from my job. Since then, I have been making ends meet through DoorDash deliveries and part-time work, but it simply isn’t enough. I am scheduled to start dental school in November for a 12-week program, and I pray that this new path will bring stability for my family’s future.
Right now, however, we are struggling. Our car is breaking down, our medical bills are beyond my reach, and my children are in pain. As a mother, it is devastating to feel that I cannot give them the care they need.
Why I’m Asking for Help
I am raising funds to cover:
- $2,500 for my daughter’s jaw procedure.
- Medical checkups for both of my children’s scoliosis.
- Supportive care for my son’s dyslexia and hearing challenges.
- Basic needs like keeping our car running so I can continue to work and get my kids to appointments.
How You Can Help
I know there are many families in need, and asking for help is not easy. But every donation—no matter how small—will go directly toward easing my children’s suffering and keeping our family moving forward.
If you cannot donate, please consider sharing our story or leaving us a kind message of encouragement. Your support will remind us that we are not alone in this fight.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, caring, and helping me give my kids the care they deserve.
